Put Your Faith in God Not False Teachers!

false teachers of god
Just as there are those who pour their hearts into serving God, there are those who also distort the truth and teach immorality. The disciples were warned about this by Jesus himself, that there would be many to come who would warp his words and teachings. Throughout our lives there will always be those who do not believe in Jesus or God; and because they don't believe they will talk down and distort our practices, as well as teach false beliefs.

In case you haven't already figured out what today's topic will be about, it's false teachers, which comes from 2 Peter chapter 2.

There will be many people who fall prey to these false teachings and beliefs because they haven't truly dedicated their lives to God. As I brought up in my last post, Growing in the Knowledge of God, those who truly seek to know God intimately and learning his ways will not be led astray or give in to sin. In a way, those who do not seek to dedicate their entire life to serving God are condemning themselves to failure.

It's no secret that pastors are paid by the people they preach to and serve, this is how it should be, if they are speaking the truth. or there are those who seek only to gain money, and they will lie to get more by telling people what they want to hear. Beware these people, for they will experience the wrath of God, whether they face it here on Earth or in hell for all eternity; they will reap what they have sown.

Think about this, God has cast angels to hell for the sins they've committed, destroyed an entire city of sinful people and even wiped all life from the face of the planet; save those who put their trust and faith in him. God knows how to enact vengeance, but he also knows how to save good and Godly people. For instance, take Lot and his family, who lived in the city of Sodom and Gomorrah; the city which was destroyed. They were not entirely sinless, but Lot was tired of the immorality in which he was surrounded, so God safely delivered him from certain death. In this same manner God will judge those who seek to tempt us, change our faith, and harm us; justice will be served.

Some false teachers are so proud and arrogant in their ways that they take even those who are of evil decent lightly. They're so caught up in their belief that the spiritual reality is not real, that they do not respect the powers which are greater than themselves. Peter writes that even angels, who are greater in strength and power than these people, do not speak out disrespectfully against Satan and his minions. I'm not sure about you, but if an angel will not even speak out against a demon, I certainly would not. For although Satan is below the power of God, he still reigns on this Earth and works to steal, kill, and destroy who we are on a daily basis.

Sins of a False Teacher

Although false teachers are paid with money, their true reward is destruction, these are the sins in which they are involved:

  • Indulging in evil pleasure
  • Disgracing us
  • Deceiving while in our company
  • Adulterous with their eyes and bodies
  • Lure people to sin
  • Greed for money

But none of these are the worst of their sins, which is leading others away from God and his son Jesus Christ. I can't even possibly imagine the anger that these people have built upon themselves from God by intentionally leading others astray, I would not want to be in their shoes on judgement day.

These people are useless, making promises and never delivering on them, they are cursed and doomed. They love to foolishly boast about themselves, when there's nothing they do which is good. Have you ever met anyone like that, that boasts about themselves when they don't really do anything? The most ironic thing about what they teach is freedom, when in all actuality, they are slaves to their own bodies. The only path to true freedom is submitting our lives to God through Jesus. Only after we've done this will the chains of our slavery to sin be broken.

In regards to those who learn about Jesus and their sin, reject the truth and return to their sinful lives, they are worse off than they were before. They have rejected the only way to save their lives, which is salvation. It's like standing on the roof of a burning building, knowing it's about to collapse and not accepting the outstretched hand of the fireman on his extendable firetruck ladder, trying his best to rescue you. Now that you've read all of this, would you turn you're back on Jesus as well?

I invite those of you who haven't turned your life over to the Lord, to think about this, have you ever done something wrong? Have you ever said something bad or even thought something impure in your mind? Of course you have, everyone does, this is what we call sin. Do you know that the cost of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life with him in heaven? The gift which he gave us and offers to you today, is Jesus, who came to Earth in human form and gave his life for us. Are you willing to accept the gift that God has offered to you freely? If so, say this prayer along with me:

"God, I realize that I'm a sinner and that you sent your Son Jesus down to die on a cross for me and that I need forgiveness of my sins. Please Jesus, come into my heart, forgive me of these sins and save me. I acknowledge you as my savior and will seek to change my life and serve God for the rest of my days. Thank you for dying for me, giving me forgiveness, eternal life, and hope for my future. Help me to live the rest of my life for God, I ask these things to be done in Jesus name, Amen."

If you said that prayer, congratulations fellow brother or sister in Christ, you are now a Christian, saved and born again!
